Once again, I have the great privilege of being part of the Executive Leadership Team for the Bay Area Heart Ball, which will occur on March 20.
As we welcome in a new decade, I am continually grateful for the time I have with friends and loved ones. The American Heart Association has been a part of our family for the last 10+ years and continues to deepen our appreciation for life. This deepened appreciation is, in part, because we had the great pleasure of spending another holiday season with my father, who suffered from a heart attack almost 10 years ago. My father is one of the fortunate ones who has benefited from the tireless efforts of the American Heart Association to fight against cardiovascular disease and invest in awareness, advances and treatment of heart disease.
Each year your contribution helps make this possible and I am grateful for your support. As we head into another year, cardiovascular disease still stands as the #1 killer of Americans thus we have so much more to do to combat this statistic within our communities. The American Heart Association is the largest private founder of research in the United States investing more than $4.1 billion towards research that has or will change our world. Here in the Bay Area, we have made trailblazing moves with restricting access to flavored tobacco, including e-cigarettes and vape products, and re-investing sugary drinks tax into water hydration systems in schools and after school physical activity programs.
I am committed to furthering the AHA mission to be a relentless force for a world of longer and healthier lives.
