Thank you from my family to yours in helping us raise money for the American Heart Association.
The American Heart Association has been a part of our family for the last 10+ years and continues to deepen our appreciation for life. As we close out on another holiday season with my father, who suffered from a heart attack in 2011, I am reminded of how far we have come. With these reflections comes the reality of the impact that heart disease has in our communities. Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death in this country for both men and women. Each year your contribution helps to change that statistic.
The American Heart Association is the largest private funder of research in the United States investing more than 4.1 billion dollars towards research that has or will change our world. Here in the Bay Area, we have made trailblazing moves with restricting access to flavored tobacco, including e-cigarettes and vape products and re-investing sugary drinks tax into water hydrations systems in schools and afterschool physical activity programs.
I am committed to furthering the AHA mission to be a relentless force for a world of longer and healthier lives.
